Softball Sweeps Pair from Goldey-Beacom College

WILMINGTON, DE--Bloomsburg University's Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) went a combined six for seven and threw five shutout innings as a pitcher to lead the Huskies to a sweep of Goldey-Beacom College on Thursday by scores of 7-0 and 6-2.
In the opener Reed went 2-3 and scored two runs, while Nikki Shiko (Kulpmont/Southern Columbia) was 1-2 with a two-run triple in a 7-0 win. The Huskies got all the runs they would need in the first when they plated three unearned runs.
In the fourth, the Huskies added four more runs with Shiko knocking in two runs on a triple with Jen Miller (Muir/Williams Valley) also getting an RBI triple and Alyssa English (Wallacetown/Philipsburg-Osceola) an RBI single.
Reed went the first five innings striking out seven, walking just one and allowing two hits to earn the win.
In game two, Reed was 4-4 at the plate with an RBI and scored two runs in a 6-2 victory. With the score tied 2-2 heading into the top of the seventh, the Huskies scored four times to go in front for good.
Reed opened the inning with a single, but the next two batters went out. Stacey Krupiewski (Trooper/Methacton) then doubled scoring Reed for a 3-2 Bloomsburg lead. Jill Homyak (Lehighton/Marian Catholic) was then hit by a pitch with Miller reaching on a fielder's choice to load the bases. English then tripled to center field clearing the bases to for a 6-2 lead.
Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) pitched an inning and a third in relief of Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) to earn the win.
Bloomsburg, 9-4, plays at West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament this weekend.
